STUDENT LEADERSHIP TEAM
The SLT, of which all students registered for credit are members, exists to promote the academic, spiritual, and social life of students. Its activities are funded by a fee collected each semester at registration. Each year a team of 5-8 students is elected to serve as a steering committee designed to plan on-campus events, advocate for students, and to promote the overall development of the student community at NTS. MISSIONARY INTERNS
Each year NTS welcomes a group of World Mission interns. During the semester the interns take Intercultural Studies along with training courses at Nazarene World Missions in preparation for career missionary service in the Church of the Nazarene.
SEMINARY SINGERS
Seminary singers is composed of students, spouses of students, faculty, and staff members. They perform in chapel services and various church and public functions in the Kansas City area.
STUDENTS FOR SOCIAL JUSTICE
Students for Social Justice (SSJ) is a student organization that exists to be a resource for understanding issues of social justice around our world and in our community. It seeks to engage and implement the holistic message of the gospel in both compassionate practices and theological reflection as Christains seek to extend the love of Christ in the world. Current faculty advisor: Dr. Ron Benefiel.
WOMEN IN MINISTRY
Women in Ministry is a student organization that supports women called to the Christian ministry and its various forms. It is founded on the Holiness tradition of involving both women and men in the ordained ministry. It seeks new approaches to questions uniquely related to women in ministry, and thus promotes understanding of and fulfillment in their calls. Current faculty advisor: Dr. Judi Schwanz.
WORLD MISSION FELLOWSHIP
The activities of the World Mission Fellowship are designed for missions students but are open to all. Meetings stressing practical missionary skills have been held by experts on such topics as photography, missionary journalism, bookkeeping and foreign exchange, tape recording and the use of other electronic equipment, haircutting, buying packing and shipping, first aid, tropical medicine, and family problems on the mission field. Also the WMF annually sponsors a Mission Week at the Seminary that places the need and progress of missions before the entire student body. Throughout the year excellent opportunities are provided for personal contact and discussion with missionary speakers and furloughed missionaries currently studying at the Seminary. WESLEYAN HOLY CLUB: STUDENT EXPLORATORY COMMITTEE
Accountability and discipline are generally not words that we like to hear. However, there has been a steady call from students, expressing a desire to engage in a community that helps them grow spiritually and live a life of holiness. There is a widespread desire for a deeper level of intimacy with Christian brothers and sisters seeking to deepen their walk. Furthermore, there has been a progressive effort to recapture some of the tenants of John Wesley's methodology and theology in regards to a pursuit of sanctification. In response, interested students and faculty have begun discussions exploring what a group like this might look like at NTS.
